i just got an email from the vet school in edinburgh, scotland. i've been accepted!

ergo, even if i don't get into my first choice i WILL be going to a vet programme + i might go to scotland!

my roommate gave me my christmas present today and then told me i was the best roommate she's ever had.

last year's roommate situation was awful, and it frequently made me wonder if i really was so hard to get along with. at times, it made me doubt my worth as a person.

today's little event is one of the nicest things to happen to me in a looooooong time. pardon my warm fuzzies, but:

i went to good friday mass today, and as i was taking the host something went wrong with the mechanics of my brain and the eucharist hit my lips, slipped out of my fingers, and bounced onto the ground.

so i picked it up, blew it off, and stuck it my mouth.

please discuss which circle of hell i am now bound for.

i didn't get to meet them (this is the downside to having someone drive you to the show: when they want to leave, you leave) but as we were driving up to the venue i did see adam* walking with his wife. i was tempted to scream "LET'S MAKE BABIES" at him, but realized that it was mildly inapporpriate just before i reached to slide the car door open. when we finally found a place to park and were speed-walking to get in line, i walked right by joe** on his cell phone. again, i resisted my temptation to copulate with him and didn't jump into his arms, but he did half-way smile at me when he saw that i recognised him. good enough.

like i said, the show was awesome. out of my five times seeing them perform live, this was probably my favourite show - no doubt in part because they played MY SONG REQUEST! it's right there on the setlist, babes: "on my own". when joe came up to play it everyone got really quiet...and without realizing it i threw my fists in the air and screamed "YES" so f*cken loud that everyone within 5 feet turned and glared at me. i couldn't help it. i was happy.

i'm just really pumped for their new album and all the fun promotional stuff that comes with it. i'm their ho, and i have qualms with that.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEAN-LUC GODARD!

i thought about just leaving my birthday wishes alone in the post, as if the man would ever stray across this little livejournal, but i realize now that i want to say how much i love his work. how much i appreciate his love for cinema and his desire to explore and criticize and create and enjoy film in general. how watching band of outsiders on a crappy vhs tape in my uni's media center, completely unsure of what i was getting into, must have changed my life. even if i couldn't read the subtitles, even if the image was so dark that at times i could barely distinguish the faces, when i first saw anna karina et al. begin dancing in the café, i was overwhelmed with how alive they all seemed, how even in their nonchalance they were clearly excited about that scene, and that film. and i knew that behind the camera, godard was excited, too, just as he must have been with each jump cut in breathless and ever musical outburst in a woman is a woman. even contempt, the one godard film i cannot bring myself to enjoy, seems alive, even in its droll pretentiousness. i don't see such love and excitement enough in most of the films i watch, and even when it does appear, it doesn't have the spark that everything godard touches seems to have. i need to see so much more by him, but if i never could, i'd still feel happy a million times over because of what i have seen. so thanks for the films, you old fart. je les aime.

i'm moving back home in less than two weeks.  this means major cleaning of my computer, which i will not be using over the summer.

is there any better sensation than putting warm, freshly-washed underwear on? i know someone might say something cliché like "sex", but that is incorrect. the warm underwear wins.
